General security advice: *** Backup *** Users should remember that it is their own responsibility to maintain up to date local backups of their own web sites and related files. In the unlikely event of a problem with their web site they will then be able to quickly re-instate the appropriate files. The servers are regularly backed-up so that in the highly unlikely event of a server failure, the replacement can be quickly re-instated to its previous state. Whilst we take every possible precaution to maintain server access and file integrity for our users, we cannot undertake to re-instate users individual files except following server failure. *** Antivirus / Firewall / Anti-malware / Anti-spam programs *** We recommend you take positive steps to install and keep updated these type of programs to protect your computer from attack, but also remain vigilant especially when visiting un-known web sites or receiving email from individuals or companies you do not know. Hover over a link and look carefully at your browser task bar or information display to see where a link is going to take you before clicking on it *** Spam / Spoofed emails *** bbwebhosting remain committed to not sending any unsolicited emails, and we strictly adhere to EU rules on email use. You will only ever receive an email from us which is in regard to your account as a customer, or as a response to a support request or query from you. We know that you will refer to our website and knowledge base for any information you require so we will not pester you with advertising (even if you are a business). We have received a few complaints of spam emails received, but these are always 'spoofed' and looking at the 'properties' shows they did not originate from us or our servers. Please check the properties of any suspicious email before opening it, and delete it immediately if at all unsure. Do not click on any link contained in it and do not try to unsubscribe through any link in the email as this simply confirms your email address is live. You will never receive an email from bbwebhosting or bookahol unless you have contacted us first or are a customer. Most of the major security firms as well as Microsoft ® are actively seeking a solution to the problem of spam / spoofed email, but as yet no significant results have been obtained due to the manner in which the world-wide email system works. *** Phishing emails *** If you receive an email from any source be it apparently a bank, financial services company or indeed ourselves, which requests you to provide login information such as user name, password, security answers etc, THIS IS ALWAYS A HOAX, a so-called Phishing email which is spoofed and attempts to obtain login security details for illicit use. These should always be permanently deleted without opening, and you must NEVER click on any link in the email or provide any of the requested details. We suggest that you think carefully before answering any email:
